The children in 4th, 5th and 6th class tried their hands in making parachutes out of string, mala (clay) and different types of materials including paper, newspaper and plastic. The objective of this was to make parachute out of these materials and to see which material was best. The children were split into groups of three and brainstormed about how to make this project a reality. When the groups decided how they would build their parachutes, they then needed to test out their parachutes together and see which material was the overall best. When time was up Ms Carey got us to drop our parachutes at the same time. The result of the project was this: the plastic parachutes took longer to fall, while the paper fell almost straight away. Overall, we had great fun in making and testing out our parachutes. We learned about gravity, air resistance, teamwork and making things together. By Kate, Ciara & Jason. Comments are closed.
