We had a very busy science week here in 4th, 5th and 6th class.
On Monday we learned all about magnets. We discovered that magnets can push and pull magnetic materials and they can also lift or hold objects. Using this knowledge, we created our own board games using magnets. Ms Hyde's classes came to play these board games with us on Friday. We had so much fun and the younger classes really enjoyed the games!! On Tuesday we had a science quiz with one round on the body and the other round on the solar system. Well done to team 'N.C.K.S.' who won. On Wednesday we had a science workshop where we created our own batteries using salt, vinegar and coke. We tested how effective each material was using a voltmeter. In geography we were learning about soil and rocks so we decided to examine some soil from the school grounds. We are waiting for the soil to settle over the weekend to see our results. What a busy science week we had!!! Please take a look at our photographs. The victorious Aghada Intermediate Hurling team visited the school with their cup on Friday. The children wore their Aghada gear for this occasion. Some past pupils were also on the team. The children asked the players a few questions and were encouraged to continue playing hurling and football. Comhghairdeas leo!!!
