Our class did Valentine’s Day art this week. We looked at the American pop artist Burton Morris. Burton Morris's most famous art work was the pop art of coco-cola bottles. For his coca-cola art, he had five bottles each different colours. They all had blue bubbles coming out of them to make them look 3D. He also did art for advertising companies in the US like Pepsi and Heinz. To create the art we started by taking our black paper and cutting it in a zig-zag style. Then we cut our paper into small and big hearts. Afterwards we cut white paper and put it onto our hearts to make them look 3D and shining.
Catholic Schools Week began on the 29th of January. On Monday, Ms Hyde’s class had a prayer service. It was focused on Our Family at Home. On Tuesday, Ms McCarthy’s class also had a prayer service and it was focused on Our School’s Family. On Wednesday, it was Grandparents day and the children’s grandparents came in. They told us about when they were children. On Thursday, it was St Brigid’s day and we had a prayer service. It was focused on St Brigid. We made St Brigid’s crosses out of straws and Ms Carey showed us how make them out of rushes. On Friday, the teachers had their own prayer service and it was focused on Our World Family. After that, Sr Claire came to visit. She spoke to us about Religion. By Cillian, Adam & Éanna. |
