On Tuesday 20th February, we erupted two class volcanoes that we made! We started off putting newspaper balls in the shape of a cone around a bottle. We made play dough to go on top of the glued newspaper cone. We rolled the play dough out flat and lifted it over the volcano. We painted the volcano using paints that made it look very realistic We then painted lava at the top!! We gathered all the explosion ingredients. We needed, red food colouring, vinegar and baking soda. We learned that when a base and an acid combine, they make a chemical reaction which produces carbon dioxide and foam. We mixed red food colouring and vinegar in a jug. The baking soda was put into the bottle on it's own. We then poured the vinegar mixture in to the bottle to make it go BOOOOOM!!!!!!! Have a look at our pictures to see our creations, Mount Friendship and Mount teamwork :) |
